ABOUT
Brittnee is an uprooted artist living on the outskirts of Seattle Washington. She was born and raised in Southern California, where she had a life full of adventure and exploration surrounded by her brothers and sister. Together they sought within one another fun, companionship, and love. From a young age Brittnee loved to color and practice drawing any picture around her until she got it almost near perfect to the original. She always felt different from the rest of her family, thinking and acting differently in creative ways. When she came to realize in high school her love for art, she started to teach herself how to paint, and incorporate different materials into her everyday life for creative purposes. She would often make purses and beanies out of yarn, cut up her clothes and sew them back together for different looks, and paint with acrylics. Eventually she started taking ceramics and painting classes in high school and college to continue learning. Through different continuing traumas in her life she lost touch with her creativity and fell victim to the normal ins and outs of life. One day at a particularly hard time in her life, she heard a voice in her head whom she could only guess was God pulling her out of depression. The voice said “Brittnee just paint” and from that moment forward she picked up her brushes and started to paint again. She has not stopped since. She soon found a program that was specifically designed to help artists find their voice and learn to make a career out of their passion for art. She graduated from Milan Art Institute and is now a successful professional artist.
Through her art, Brittnee has learned to feel safe and optimistic about her life and future regardless of her past traumas. She knows that as long as she is painting, she is healing. She paints to not only heal herself, but also to help heal others and to let them know that they can feel hopeful and positive no matter the trials and tribulations life brings them. Her artwork represents hidden and unseen beauty with a simple, minimalistic and organic development. She tries to provoke emotions and safety in a natural and peaceful way. Her artwork is meant to inspire connection and calmness within ones self. She paints from the heart and lets her emotions from her past and present guide her into creating paintings of who she wants to become in the future, as well as connect with the viewer on a deeper emotional level. Through her process, much like life, she has layers upon layers. She uses charcoal, collage, inks, pens, markers and acrylic paints to get depth in her paintings representing the depths each individual has lived in their life. She finishes every painting in oil paints to bring her paintings alive to help pull your emotions through the colors. While you find that even under the chaotic layers, a honest and encouraging final product represents a beautiful, peaceful and full life ahead. Brittnee says,
“I believe that artist hold the power in this world to not only influence our peers, but also promote emotion and connection with each other through the beauty of art.”
Brittnee currently has work up and down the west coast, from Orange County, CA to Seattle, Wa. She has done live paintings for the corporate art world, live paintings through the global art event known as Art Battle, and countless other events. She is currently selling independently, as well as represented by Knackit, an online Seattle based gallery, and PeopleSpace- a commercial furniture and interior design company which has multiple locations all over the US.
Brittnee’s studio is open year round, drawing inspiration from the people, nature and scenery that the PNW offers. She loves to connect with the people within her community, and surrounding areas, and to develop the impact that links artist and the viewers together. She enjoys bringing her four small children into the studio to help them learn to paint their emotions and find happiness though the different art materials as she has learned to do. Brittnee plans to continue to inspire those around her and expand beyond the United States west coast in hopes to touch more people emotionally and connect through her art. She is always optimistic and looking forward to what the future holds.
